The Law For Nature is an initiative from the Swedish non-profit foundation Ecocide Law Alliance. We have created it in alignment with the growing global movement to legally protect nature from mass destruction. Here is the story:
PURPOSE
The Law For Nature is a business community campaign created to build positive momentum around the establishment of a fifth international crime – ecocide – within the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
ECOCIDE
Ecocide is basically a crime against nature. A formal definition was published in 2021 by an independent panel of experts in international and environmental law. More about the definition.
“Unlawful or wanton acts committed with knowledge that there is a substantial likelihood of severe and either widespread or long-term damage to the environment being caused by those acts.”
WHY – What do we truly believe in?
We believe in clear positive goals and in joined forces to reach them. We believe in the power of sharing good examples and their inspiring and change-making influences on others. We believe that a unified business community can strongly support political and governmental institutions to move ahead.

HOW – How do our beliefs come true?
We will enable businesses and business leaders around the world to publicly "Say Yes" to the establishment of a new international law – The Law For Nature – in a positive, pragmatic and respectful manner, while their participation adds positive value to their company and brand.
Together with these businesses, we form a strong, sincere, and impactful global community, lifting powerful and credible arguments for an international ecocide law, which are put forward to politicians and leaders on local, national, and international levels. The intention is to encourage more countries to join the ongoing ecocide discussions and sign up for an international ecocide law – The Law For Nature – within the ICC.
WHAT – What do we in fact deliver?
We provide a global awareness concept, made available as a community platform for businesses and others to use for the purpose of supporting the establishment of this new law, and to offer an opportunity to participate on a magnitude that suits each and every business and their brands.
